Martyn Thompson interviewed over 80 ex-North African campaign veterans, and has told their individual stories as they served in the desert from 1940 – 1943. Profusely illustrated with personal photographs that have not been seen before, the book is a riveting account from an ordinary soldiers perspective.
Martyn visited the battlefields of Egypt and Libya to see for himself the conditions the troops had to endure, and to visit the many war cemeteries where Kiwis lay at rest.
An important book portraying the human face of the North African campaign.
